3 to 5 years- Pre-K
PRE- K (3 to 5 years old)
As 3-5 year olders gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world.
Excelsior Learning Academy
fosters that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners.
Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active, too.
As your child approaches early childhood, his world expands greatly. Your child becomes more independent and has a need for interaction beyond the immediate family. The interactions between the child and his family will shape how he interacts with the world around him.
During this stage children learn how to ride a tricycle, show awareness of gender identity, help to dress and undress himself, cut with scissors, play with other children, recall part of a story, and sing a song. Three through five year olds are silly and tend to laugh loudly. The pretend play that was present in the 2 year old is replaced by a world where the line between real and make believe sometimes becomes blurred.
Three through five year olds will play for hours, if allowed. They will also sit in front of the TV if allowed. It is critical that daycare centers are vigilant in meeting the needs of the child while stretching their limitations.
As 3 to 5 year olds need to be constantly stimulated in a wide range of activities, home play typically does not meet the needs of a 3 to 5 year old. Despite the number of toys a parent may purchase for their 3 to 5 year old, there is no substitute for group play, with an age appropriate structured curriculum. Our licensed and experienced daycare proves the best opportunity for your child to grow and learn at a pace that they are capable of.
